The Humane Society is telling us that 72% of American households have at least one pet. Owners are now realizing that they must consider allowing pets in their rental properties or face reducing their potential renter market by 72%. With that said their are proper procedures and rules that must be followed.
The tenant must follow the following procedures:
1. Make sure the home they are interested in allows pets before they move forward. If they already live in a rental property then FPME must be notified before any pet is allowed on the premises.
2. Make sure that FPME is notified of the breed, weight and size of each pet. Insurance companies have a list of pets that they will not allow.
3. Fill out the Pet application and pay the fee for each pet. FPME will supply the form to you. We also require vet records and a photo of the pet to put on record.
4. Any changes to during the course of the lease must be reported to FPME immediately.
